Brad Wolbeck recognized with BC Ringette Volunteer of the Year award

May 26, 2019

Congratulations to Brad Wolbeck for earning a BC Ringette Volunteer of the Year award! The award was accepted by Chilliwack Ringette President Shannon Bettles at the 2019 Annual General Meeting at the Sun Peaks Resort in Kamloops May 25.

Each year, BC Ringette selects a volunteer from the ringette community who exemplifies outstanding dedication to the sport of ringette.

Brad Wolbeck took on the role of Referee-in-Chief for the Chilliwack Ringette Association one year ago after being an official for only two years. Brad has enthusiastically stepped up, volunteering his time to ensure that all games in Chilliwack had officials for the 2018-19 season.

Brad has worked with unique circumstances as the young association grows — trying to find officials willing to come to Chilliwack to officiate; working with other association’s officials and administrators to develop and grow officiating in the eastern Fraser Valley; and by learning to officiate himself while supporting other new officials and ensuring all games are covered.

Brad has created policy, advocated for the need to train and recruit officials, sought out experienced mentors, and has shown incredible dedication and diligence in his role.

“Brad is very deserving of this award, which comes at a great time for our club as we continue to recruit and train new officials. His dedication to officiating is an instrumental part of Chilliwack Ringette’s growth” President Bettles remarked.

Chilliwack Ringette thanks Brad and all of its volunteers for their time and dedication to ringette.

Certificate and plaque awarded to Brad Wolbeck.
